One Day Seminar on Inclusive India and Self Advocacy


National Trust and Department of Social Justice Madhya Pradesh organized a seminar on “Inclusive India and Self Advocacy” in Bhopal on 10.2.2018. The seminar was conducted with the aim to create awareness amongst the policy makers and stakeholders. Sh.Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh inaugurated the seminar.

The seminar started with welcome introductory address by Dr. Thawar Chandra Gehlot, Honorable Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India. He appreciated the efforts of National Trust. Minister of Co-operative, Social Justice, Panchayat and Rural Development, Shri Gopal Bhargava expressed his thoughts on “Inclusive India Initiative” and emphasized the significance of self- advocacy for bringing a positive change in Person with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PwIDDs).  JS&CEO, National Trust, Shri Mukesh Jain welcomed all the guests and highlighted the various activities undertaken by National Trust.

The seminar gathered a large number of experts from all walks of life with an objective to connect invitees from many diverse industry sectors, so that they can deliberate the ideas and concepts that really work and helps support the implementation of models of Inclusive India.


The seminar also included a panel discussion on Inclusion, Accessibility and Self-Advocacy. The participants deliberated ideas on all the three verticals of “Inclusive India Initiative” that are Inclusive Education, Inclusive Employment and Inclusive Community life. The dignitaries at the panel discussion were: Shri. Sanket Bhondave, Collector, Ujjain; Prof. RachnaKhare, School of Planning and Architecure, Bhopal; Dr. Sandeep Sankat; Dr. Sumit Roy, Digdarshika Bhopal;  Ms. Viva Joshi ,Madhuri Aayaam Education and Welfare Society, Bhopal; Mrs. Manjula Patankar, Director, ROSHNI, Gwalior; Mr. Pankaj Maru, Nagda;Cdr. Shrirang Bijur; Mr PS Burde.

Question and Answer session was conducted by Mukesh Jain, JS&CEO, National Trust in which several questions were asked by the participants.

The seminar ended with a concluding note by Shri. Mukesh Jain, JS&CEO ,National Trust. The seminar was attended by Principal Secretary, Social Justice Department, Bhopal, Shri. Ashok Shah; Member of Parliament, Bhopal, Shri Alok Sanjar; Representatives from Volunteering Organizations, Educational Institutions, thought leaders from diverse sectors of country, officials of the National Trust; representatives of NGOs working in the field of disability.
